A Land Rover Defender owner from North Yorkshire is going the extra mile to help local NHS staff overcome the wintry challenges posed by ‘the beast from the east’.

Major snowfall and sub-zero temperatures throughout the UK has caused widespread disruption and misery for many, but countless stories of helpfulness and heroism have also emerged, as citizens rally to help those that need it most.

Gina Butteree and her partner are both customers of Thirsk-based Land Rover Defender dealership LR Motors, and Gina didn’t hesitate to put her vehicle to work to assist local NHS care staff.

Gina explained: “My mum is bed-bound because she isn’t very well, so I’ve been helping to transport the carers and district nurses to come down and see her, because they’ve struggled to get around.

“They visit four times a day normally, so there’s been a lot of backwards and forwards, but it’s normal stuff from my perspective.

“It’s just a case of trying to do what you can to help those that need it.

“I used to have a Land Rover Discovery, and we’ve had various other vehicles, but then I got a Defender, and it really is the ultimate vehicle,” Gina added.

“It’s hard to put your finger on what makes it so special, but it’s fantastically equipped for weather like this, and I was really pleased to be able to use it to help others.

“I found LR Motors online and the business really stood out to me. My husband has a Defender from them too and we both love them.”

LR Motors is the sister business of Twisted Automotive, which specialises in re-engineering Land Rover Defender to the exacting requirements of customers around the world.
