Just like our name, those of us working here at Faith are filled with a belief in working towards positive change, making a concentrated effort to do something good, and persevering in the face of tough goals.
Over the past couple of years we’ve participated in several fundraisers, drives, challenges and events for good, and today we’re taking a look back at our favourites.
SADS UK
This is one that’s very near and dear to our heart after the loss of our colleague Kirsty in 2021. In October of 2021 and 2022, we undertook month-long challenges to achieve goals in their 30s to raise money in her memory. Each marked what would’ve been Kirsty’s birthdays—30forKirsty and 31forKirsty respectively.
Some of the challenges included doing 30 days of yoga, baking 30 biscuits and buns, running 31km a week for four weeks, cycling 31 miles, and learning Spanish for 31 days. The combined total over the two years comes to over £3,800, raising money for Kirsty’s son Casey who has cystic fibrosis in 2021 and supporting SADS UK in 2022.
The Nick Smith Foundation
Back at the start of the pandemic, we did a fundraising challenge for The Nick Smith Foundation to raise funds for research into motor neurone disease, as well as supporting bereaved children. Our challenges ranged from running 26 miles, horse riding the same distance, dog walking, baking, dancing and performing squats and helped to keep us connected to each other and our community whilst in lockdown, raising over £500 in just 5 days.
The foundation was set up in memory of Nick Smith, brother-in-law to Faith’s long-standing associate colleague Stephen Naylor. Nick died from motor neurone disease just two weeks after his 38th birthday, and the Foundation also supports junior rugby league – a game which father-of-two Nick loved and played for several local sides.
Regular donations
We’re proud to regularly donate to the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice since 2010 through their 99er Business Club programme, linking us with local businesses and putting the money towards a great cause which helps families and children with life-shortening illnesses.
We also donate monthly to the Calderdale Community Foundation, which supports charities and voluntary groups across Calderdale, working alongside these groups to address inequalities and create opportunities for those who need them the most.
Since 2016, we’ve provided pro bono work for KACCL (Kirklees and Calderdale Charity Lunch), which our MD Stefanie sits on the committee for. We support the events through free PR, brochure design, promotional artwork and the organisation of the event. The fundraiser held each year supports local charities by feeding into their projects for the community, and this year raised over £24,000.
Bits and bobs
We’ve also supported a variety of charitable organisations over the years, national and local. For example, hosting a cake sale for Breast Cancer Now last summer, and offering up free use of our office space for local walking group We in Front’s monthly committee meetings. We’ve also bee donating to the Brighouse Focus 4 Hope food bank whenever we can, bringing together food donations and delivering it to our friends at the charity.
Then there’s the Driving Against Cancer fundraiser held by our client, Fusion IT, which we supported in October 2022. In this challenge, we collectively aimed to walk, run and cycle 1,000 miles- double the distance travelled in the Porsche Club Championship last season by Fusion’s sponsored driver, Simon Clark.
The campaign raised a total of £2,000 for the Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust, which supports children and teenagers with cancer diagnoses. The funds raised are being used to purchase laptops and tablets for 13-24-year-olds who are undergoing cancer treatment to help them feel less isolated and more occupied during such a challenging time.
Our work
We’re also proud to be working with local charities in our line of work too, having worked with The Sleep Charity for over two years in supporting their campaigns and public promotion. We’re always looking to broaden our client base, so if you’re interested utilising our services for your own business, get in touch today.
