Huddersfield Unlimited, the business-led organisation that stands for the town of Huddersfield, is hosting its second mini-conference, ‘Why Huddersfield? Why Now?’, on Wednesday 25th October at The John Smith’s Stadium, Huddersfield.
The event will bring together speakers from the University of Huddersfield, Network Rail and Kirklees Council, among others, to discuss the future of Huddersfield and share an exclusive update on the £1Billion of investment currently underway in the town.
The event aims to enable Huddersfield Unlimited’s key stakeholders to share collective ambitions for the town, with a focus on exploring what can be achieved over the next five to ten years and beyond. Huddersfield Unlimited plans to look at how Huddersfield can make the most of its logistical and socioeconomic strengths, such as being at the centre of the North’s East-West transport routes, especially with the surge of public sector investment.
Speakers and panellists include:
- Professor Bob Cryan, Vice Chancellor, University of Huddersfield
- Paul Sumner, Senior Sponsor, Transpennine Route Upgrade, Network Rail
- Paul Cleminson, Preconstruction Director – Northern, BAM Construction Ltd
- Cllr Graham Turner from Kirklees Council
- Claire Paxman, Brand Ambassador and Director of Global Training, Paxman Coolers
- James Clarkson, CEO, Adventoris
- Alastair Morris, Managing Director, ACCU
- Andrew Heath, Assistant Director Business Development UK and Ireland, Radisson Hotels
The event will also see a number of business leaders discussing topics such as Kirklees Council’s Blueprint and Station 2 Stadium Enterprise Corridor projects, the TransPennine Route Upgrade, and The University of Huddersfield’s multi-million-pound investment in a world-class National Health Innovation Campus.
The audience will be invited to discuss how all organisations can work together to capitalise on those once-in-a-generation investments and make Huddersfield the place to be.
Chair of Huddersfield Unlimited, Sir John Harman, said: “Huddersfield is a fantastic town with incredible potential. The £1Billion that is being invested in the town has already begun and we are starting to see the fruits from these labours.
“For example, the works on the National Health Innovation Campus are well underway to deliver this first of its kind dedicated education centre. This centre will create wonderful opportunities for those in Huddersfield and put the town on the map as the place to invest, the place to live and the place to do business in the UK.”
