As we move out of the second national lockdown and return to the tiered system, many of us will still be working from home and spending the majority of our time housebound.

It is important to keep ourselves busy and stimulated during these times, which is why at Faith PR, we wanted to share our what we have been listening to, watching and reading while we have been in lockdown 2.0.


In work hours: either Paul Sutton’s Digital Download podcast about topics affecting the comms industry or The Agency Accelerator podcast.

Out of hours: things with a ‘feel good’ theme! Podcasts include Fearne Cotton’s Happy Place and on TV/Netflix things like All Creatures Great and Small, Red Oaks and Schitt’s Creek for some light-hearted escapism and laughter.


In work hours: On a daily basis I’ve been scouring industry websites to keep up to date on what’s happening across client sectors. I’ve also been glued to news apps to stay in the loop with what’s happening across the world during this very strange year.

Out of hours: At the beginning of lockdown, I set myself the challenge of reading all the Jane Austen books. They’ve been on my bookshelf for about 20 years and have been collecting dust since! I’ve read four out of the six so far, and read a couple non-Jane Austen fiction in between. Reading is how I wind down from the day. Netflix has also been my saviour, from Tiger King and Umbrella Academy, to The Last Kingdom! We also make sure there’s always music on in the background when we’re at home to keep spirits lifted!


In work hours: I’ve listened to a few podcasts with a focus on healthy minds or inspirational real life stories, and I enjoy following breaking news stories from around the world. I also tend to have Radio 2 or Heart humming in the background!

Out of hours: I’ve read quite a lot during lockdown, from a real mix of authors. I’ve got my nose stuck into a Martina Cole crime novel at the moment and I’ve been watching Grey’s Anatomy with my girls, from the very first series, and I’m absolutely hooked! Everyone needs a bit of “McDreamy” in their lives!


In work hours: I’ve been watching a lot from LinkedIn as well as online training courses for personal development.

Out of hours: Most recently, I’ve been revisiting different British comedy series, Benidorm and Friday Night Dinner have been the main two for lockdown 2.0. The world is very serious when you turn the TV on, so a bit of light-hearted TV humour is needed!


In work hours: I’ve discovered podcasts! I’ve listened to some work-related ones (The Capsule, the Impact Report) but also some for fun, about horse showing and judging. Music-wise, it’s either Radio 1 or Kisstory, I need to keep my musical knowledge reasonably decent so I can converse with my 13-year-old about the latest rappers.


In work hours: I keep up to date with what is happening in the industry by following PR related Twitter accounts. It is great to see what campaigns and work that other agencies and brands are working on. It is nice to see the PR community support and share ideas on Twitter. Digital PR Examples, Just Digital PR and Digital PR Inspiration are great accounts to follow for all the latest industry news. I keep an eye out for any relevant webinars that I can attend as well, it is great to keep updated and share the information with the wider team!

Out of hours: I can’t resist a Netflix binge! I have recently watched Season 4 of The Crown, which is brilliant! I am currently reading Why I’m No Longer Talking to White People About Race by Reni Eddo-Lodge. 2020 has been a difficult year for everyone and I think it is important understand the different experiences that people are going through and figure out how I can become a better human.


In work hours: I tuned into a couple of online sessions around LinkedIn marketing. These are really helpful and as the information is coming directly from LinkedIn, you know it’s accurate and up to date with any changes on the platform. I also like to look on the website Campaign Live, it’s great to see what other businesses are doing, both the highs and lows. It’s a fab place to look for inspiration to see how other brands have thought outside the box and adapted to the current climate.

Out of hours: I have been enjoying getting back into reading. When you’re rushing around it can be hard to find time to get lost in a good book, but lockdown has given us all a little more down time. I’m currently in the middle of the Crazy Rich Asians trilogy by Kevin Kwan, I have also just ordered Sophie Kinsella’s Christmas Shopaholic from Amazon.


In work hours: I try and keep up to speed with the latest news to see if there is anything relevant for any of our clients.

Out of hours: I’ve recently read Finding Freedom, This is me – Mrs Hinch and Brutally Honest – Mel B, I love a good biography!
