Thornton & Ross, part of the STADA Group, has thanked the First Group for its flexibility in ensuring key workers can continue to manufacture and supply emollients vital to the NHS and consumers.
The Thornton & Ross factory in Linthwaite relies on the bus service from Huddersfield Town Centre to transport key production employees working for early morning shifts.
Due to the reduced requirement from businesses moving towards remote working, the First Group had removed the 5:30am bus service, but swiftly re-added it to support T&R employees upon reflection of how vital the manufacturing facility is, particularly to the NHS frontline during the fight against Coronavirus.

This enables the T&R team to continue supplying much needed products to the NHS and consumers. Thank you to everyone that has made this possible.”
Martin Hirst, Commercial Director of First West Yorkshire, said: “Our focus is to ensure key workers, including health service and emergency workers, can get to and from their places of work and those who need to can still collect medical prescriptions or do their essential shopping. We said we would look at flexing timetables if needed and are delighted we’ve been able to respond to the needs of Thornton & Ross employees.”
